The scientific aspect of InNERDANCE: FREQUENCIES, AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM, CONSCIOUSNESS AND HEALING
The scientific aspect of innerdance is based on an intuitive and physical state of expanded consciousness, which serves as a portal to healing and provides a deeper understanding of who and what we are. Studies and testimonials support the effectiveness of this method and show how specific states of consciousness can promote healing processes.
Music has a profound effect on the body and mind, as it is able to influence neuronal processes and bring us into synchronization with its rhythm. The best DJs understand how to influence our brainwaves through targeted sound experiences and create a harmony between both hemispheres of the brain. The right hemisphere of the brain is particularly stimulated by music, as it includes non-verbal languages, subconscious memories and deeply felt states of being. Music functions not only as a form of communication, but also as a memory system that goes back to our biological origins – a time when rhythm and sound were the first forms of expression of mankind.
These rhythms, which have always been present in nature and the cosmos, have influenced human behavior and the development of consciousness and language. Sounds such as drumming, singing or humming represented the first collective forms of communication that created community and identity. In modern practices such as innerdance, this ancient resonance is reawakened. Participants in this practice often move intuitively, as if remembering early gestures and dance forms, and attuning to the natural rhythms of music and planetary cycles.
The autonomic nervous system plays an important role in processing these musical and physical experiences. It consists of two main nerve strands: the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for activating the body in stressful situations (tension), while the parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for relaxation and recovery. During an innerdance session, specific frequencies cause a co-activation of sympathetic and parasympathetic activity, initiating a deep physical and energetic experience.
The simultaneous activation of both systems promotes a kind of “fusion” of tension and relaxation, of activity and rest, which allows the participant to experience his fears and blockages in a new way. The body learns not only to live through these reactions, but also to transform them. Blockages, traumas and old patterns that no longer serve are profoundly dissolved.
The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) in the brain, connected to the hypothalamus, acts as the main regulator of biological rhythms, such as circadian, diurnal and infradian rhythms. These rhythms influence human physical states, mental processes, and behavioral patterns. During innerdance, these natural cycles are simulated to allow participants to deeply synchronize with the music and cosmic rhythms. This synchronized experience stimulates delta, theta, and gamma waves in the brain in particular. Delta waves are associated with a state of clear, dreamlike consciousness, while gamma waves enable transcendent experiences that promote the feeling of ego dissolution and universal insights.
The stimulation of these brainwaves leads to increased neuroplasticity, which can change perception patterns and create deep insights. The lower latent inhibition, which is maintained by the activation of circadian rhythms, puts the body in a semi-awake, dreamlike state of consciousness. In this phase, emotions, memories and visions can be released and linked together. This creates conditions that support profound healing processes and open awareness to new, more harmonious energies.
The endocrine system, which produces hormones such as adrenaline, cortisol and oxytocin, is also sensitive to frequencies. High frequencies can promote stress hormones such as cortisol, while calming frequencies can increase the release of oxytocin and help regulate the hormone balance. In particular, the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, the thyroid gland and the adrenal glands can be influenced by frequencies.
In summary, music in general, and the specially curated innerdance music in particular, acts not only as a cultural and communicative tool, but activates biological and neurological systems deep within us. It influences the autonomic nervous system, modulates the activity of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and thus promotes states that favor transformative and healing processes. The connection between sound, rhythm and neuronal activity holds the potential to both expand the mind and promote physical and emotional health.
